The Kamloops Sailing Association hosted races in the laser, 420, and optima classes on June 30 at Nicola Lake. Almost 30 boats participated in the regatta, which was delayed in the afternoon due to a thunderstorm warning.
Young Merrittonians flocked to Rotary Park on July 11 in search of fun and relief from the heat as temperatures climbed to highs in the mid-30s this week.

The City of Merritt celebrated Canada's 145th birthday in its usual fashion with a birthday party in Rotary Park. Attractions and activities included a magic show from Chris the Clown, face-painting, soccer, a bouncy castle, and games for children and adults alike.
North West Mud Racing Association members competed at the Merritt Mountain Music Festival grounds June 30 and July 1. The races were the association's first in the Nicola Valley. According to organizers, about 60 vehicles across all classes signed up for the Merritt mud races.
