Three Merrittonians are confirmed to vie for the vacant city council seat prematurely vacated by Norm Brigden this spring.
Former Merritt mayor and councillor Bob Baird has confirmed that he is seeking the seat as well as Harvey Keys, who ran in last fall’s general election for city council but was defeated, and Jack Polmans, who also ran unsuccessfully last fall.
The nomination period opened up Tuesday and will close Aug. 10. Elections signs will then be permitted starting Aug. 17.
The City will hold advanced voting days Sept. 5 and 12 and the general voting day on Sept. 15.
Rumoured candidate Darrell Brooks told the Merritt News he was undecided whether he would put his name forward.
