X Fest’s wildly popular Improv Night returns

X Fest will hold its hilarious Improv Night Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. at the outdoor stage in Prince Charles Park.

Last year the comedy night was X Fest’s most popular event.

It will feature Project X's Improv Troupe, which includes Devon McBride, Harmony Maher, Robin O'Reilly and Sheanna James.  The group will go head-to-head with the cast of Romeo & Juliet and James & the Giant Peach. The aftermath of this epic battle will only be the pain of sidesplitting laughter.

Improv Night is one-night only and tickets go on sale at 9 p.m. at the gates for $20 apiece. Tickets are cash only.

You can bring a friend along for free if you show your ticket stub from any performance of this year’s Romeo & Juliet or James & the Giant Peach.

A portion of the proceeds from Improv Night will benefit the Bradley Munro Memorial Award. Munro was a production manager, technical director and scenic designer for X Fest for the past three years, and had become a much-beloved member of the Project X family. He died suddenly in November 2011 of meningitis, a loss that had a lasting impact on X Fest and the theatre community in Kamloops. The award was set up through the TRU Foundation and now provides financial assistance to TRU technical theatre students.

X Fest’s Romeo & Juliet and James & the Giant Peach have so far played to standing ovations and sold-out shows. They continue until Aug. 11 and tickets are still available.
