    Training Talk: Arjun Singh

I got to get to Run Club on Sunday. I got to get to Run Club on Sunday. I got to get to Run Club on Sunday.

I might also have to buy some ruby red running shoes.

As my alarm went off on the second Sunday of RUNClub, I did a quick assessment of the situation — and again decided to stay in bed.

I have jealously guarded my Sunday morning sleep-ins for some time and it is going to be tough to give them up for a couple of months. Tough, but not impossible. The guilt I felt will be enough to propel me to the next Sunday’s RUNClub.

I did manage to make the RUNClub Tuesday evening, as we did not have council duties this past week. I drove out to the airport dyke early and waited.

As people assembled, I saw a few familiar faces. A lot of people I didn’t know as well. It was a little nerve-wracking.

Jo and the coaches were so friendly and positive. There were some quick introductions and remarks. Three groups were formed. I was in the beginner group, ably led by Jo and Coach Lauren. Jo made it a point to try to remember everyone’s name.

We started off, 4 1/2 minutes walking, 1 1/2 minutes of jogging; I think six or seven times.

Cocooned by our friendly group, I managed to jog for the first time in 20 years. It was pretty awesome!
