Missing Merritt mom spotted in Lower Mainland

Missing Merritt mother Brandy Cowell and boyfriend Robert Bishop have been spotted in different locations across the province, most recently, in the Lower Mainland.

"RCMP have had several confirmed sightings of Brandy Cowell and Robert Bishop in different locations over the past few days, with the last confirmed sighting on Sunday," said Cons. Tracy Dunsmore in a press release issued today.

Following a public plea from Cowell's father on Friday, Merritt RCMP received several tips and say they are following up on several from the Trail area from Sept. 11.

Cowell has been missing since Sept. 6, when her parents first filed a missing persons report with police. Although Bishop has not been reported missing, police are seeking him in relation to Cowell's disappearance.

On Monday, Merritt RCMP issued a statement concerning Bishop's criminal background, which extends from Kamloops.

"Bishop is new to the Merritt area, so police have had little dealing with him, but has a criminal background mostly in fraud," said Dunsmore. Bishop has been in the Merritt area for approximately two months.

Cowell is five feet, three inches tall, weighs 139 pounds and has long brown hair and green eyes. Bishop is six feet, one inch tall, weighs 221 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.

The couple was driving Cowell's 2008 red Charger with a black spoiler. The licence plate, 323 RHK, is expired. Police say they may be using a temporary operating permit, an expired plate, or even a stolen plate on the vehicle.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Cowell and Bishop is asked to call Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
