Expansion and an increase in student enrollment will make the upcoming school year a positive one, according to the president of NVIT.
After completing an orientation last week at Merritt's only post-secondary institution, the school year is finally underway and for NVIT president Ken Tourand, things are on the up and up.
“Overall, our enrollment was up five per cent,” says Tourand. Numbers are up 25 per cent from last year and there may be more students added during the week.
“It's not too late for those, wondering what to do this fall, to come up and talk to an academic planner.”
Tourand says that although there aren't many new additions to the academic calendar, students now have options in the new lecture and daycare facility. Its official opening will take place on Sept. 15 and will be open to the public. There will be a barbecue and entertainment, starting at 11:30 a.m., the grand opening ceremony at noon, and tours and an open house from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
“Our daycare is now open. There are just one or two spots left,” adds Tourand.
