Roger Sloan of Merritt shot seven-over 78 on Thursday and was tied for 122nd after one round at the Canadian Tour's Jane Rogers Championship in Halton Hills, Ont.
Round 2 is scheduled for today, and Sloan will need to finish in the top 70 and ties to qualify for the weekend's final two rounds.
Sloan made six bogeys, a double and a birdie in his opening round.
Andrew Parr of London, Ont. was the first round leader after a round of 66, which included eight birdies and two bogeys. He was a storke ahead of American Michael Jensen and two ahead of Ryan Thornberry and Daniel McCarthy, both Americans.
