Dear Editor:
How will the citizens of the Nicola Valley ever be able to pay Interior Health Services for the largess being showered on them by the said service?
It began with the removal of patient rooms and beds; most of these rooms were furnished by donations from local families. Interior Health managed to sell or get rid of all this paid for equipment.
Not too much complaining to the involved authority even when the space was built into offices.
Next step, of course, was the closing of the kitchen and laundry facilities. Followed by the abandonment of all surgeries except those of the most minor nature. A minimal care institution has been created from a once beautiful, fully functional hospital that was clean, served good food, and had clean and dry laundry.
Our sadly depleted band-aid centre is now rewarded with the transfer of the ultrasound equipment to Kamloops. We already have to travel to Kamloops for most procedures. Will the next step be the removal of emergency room services? Then, of course, they could eliminate the x-ray and lab departments.
Let's do something fellow taxpayers and complain long and loud to the appropriate body before it's too late.
