Canada Day held the launch of Merrritt’s Music in the City program for 2010 at the Rotary Park Bandshell.
Performances featured vocals, entertaining songwriting, and touching story telling by Rob Hess of B.C. The holiday crowds were also entertained by dancers from Linda’s Dance Studio, aged three to 17.
Music in the City will be running Thursdays in July and August from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Merritt Spirit Square. An Elvis Presley Tribute show will also take place on August 26 at Rotary Park.
Thursday July 8 will feature the Colorfics, a show said to be infused with an exciting flare of bohemian-cabaret and originally-spun tributes to the dirty 30’s, 40’s jazz, and 60’s surf and Beatles pop era.
Local performers are encouraged to join the stage to showcase their talent. Artisans and crafters are welcome to join Music in the City with displays and booths. Local groups promoting their activities, registrations and fundraising efforts are also invited.
