Alert neighbours help avert potential disaster

Dear Editor:
Last week, we were suddenly awakened to the awareness that there was a fire in our backyard. Our lumber pile and playhouse were going up in flames. Thanks to John and Jean Claude, who were just heading home from work at the time, we were awakened and alerted to what was going on. Thanks to our neighbour Jim, our two garden hoses did a surprising job of bringing the fire under control.
We also want to thank the fire department for their early morning assistance, making sure the fire was fully out, and the RCMP for gathering what information was available to see if such things could be prevented in the future. It was good to see all the people who were available to help.
