Movie Gallery holding closeout sale

Merritt will be without one of its two video stores following an announcement of a closing sale last week by Movie Gallery Canada.

Last Saturday, the leading video store chain started liquidating approximately $33-million of its goods in 131 of its Movie Gallery and VHQ stores across the country.

Items for sale include DVDs and Blu Ray movies, video games, and store fixtures at significant discounts of up to 30% off.
The closing sale will last approximately six weeks, with gift cards still being honoured.

Oregon-based Movie Gallery hired the law firm of Sonnenschein, Nath and Rosenthal to prepare for a second filing of bankruptcy, and on February 3, 2010, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Since then, it has closed stores in the U.S. and Canada.
