The lineup for the seventh annual Merritt Walk of Stars Gala Weekend has been changed. Unfortunately, country music legend, Ian Tyson, will no longer play in the Country Music Capitol of Canada during the last weekend in May.
Tyson had to cancel and will be replaced by the beautiful and talented Beverley Mahood.
Mahood has enjoyed a diverse career in the entertainment business—she has worked as a singer, actress, model, and television hostess. Her latest album, Unmistakable, was released in 2009 and marked ten years in the music business.
Getting her start in the music industry with her first album, Girl Out of the Ordinary, which was released in 1998, Mahood has still not lost her sense of enthusiasm for her art.
“There was something so exciting about releasing that first album,” said Mahood.
“Dreams were big and possibilities seemed endless. That excitement is back—it’s like starting out all over again, beginning a brand new chapter in my life and my career.”
Mahood has had her share of success on screen as well, having hosted CityTV’s BT Television and starred as an anchor judge on multiple seasons of Karaoke Star.
“Hosting television has brought me closer to what people really care about,” said Mahood.
Mahood, who currently lives in Nashville, describes her music as “honest and real.”
“My music is the story of my life,” said Mahood.
“Each album I’ve done is reflective of the time in my life in which I recorded it—I don’t ever hide behind misleading lyrics.”
Fundraising for children’s initiatives is something that Mahood is very passionate about.
She has hosted the Kinsmen Foundation’s annual Telemiracle Telethon for an impressive 13 years in a row—she is also a committed supporter of Juvenile Diabetes, the Alberta Children’s Hospital, and the David Foster Foundation.
Also performing during the Gala will be Ridley Bent, Kenny Hess, The Higgins, as well as local artists Tammy Weymouth and Stuart Emslie.
