Bluegrass at Brambles

submitted

Dan Fremlin and Jim Karr play their own particular brand of bluegrass this Friday at Brambles Bakery.

This Friday, Brambles Bakery will be hosting local musicians Loose Rooster.

Brambles is raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association by putting all of the day’s proceeds from its cinnamon rolls and coffee towards this cause.

“We are donating out time to do what we can for the cause,” says Dan Fremlin of Loose Rooster.

The day will culminate in the musical performance by the bluegrass band at the bakery starting at 6 p.m.

Fremlin, a local musician has been playing mandolin for 15 years and together with band mate Jim Karr are in the works to put out their first album this summer.

“We have a couple of other guys that we are working with to put out this album.”

They play bluegrass music, incorporating country and country rock into their own brand of acoustic roots music.

“We are completely acoustic, we do not plug anything in, ever,” says Fremlin.

“It is something we can pack around from the campfire to the festival.”

Loose Rooster travels around B.C. and Alberta playing mostly bluegrass festivals

“We will be playing in Edmonton at the Blueberry Bluegrass festival this summer,” says Fremlin.
“As well as playing shows on Vancouver Island.”
