It has been over five years since Trevor Caswell has played a show in his home community and he is looking forward to his return.
Caswell will be playing at the Lower Nicola Community Hall on Saturday April,10, performing songs from his latest release “Folksinger Blues”, as well as selections from his three previously released CDs.
Musician Sean Curry will be accompanying Caswell on mandolin with percussionist Marcin Haladaj rounding out the sound.
Performing primarily as a solo artist in the singer-songwriter tradition of his heroes Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and Leadbelly, Caswell's music is highlighted by disarming, socially conscious lyrics with a touch of sly humour.
Caswell's latest release features a group of acoustic blues songs that he has been performing as encores during his shows over the last couple of years.
“I have been playing since I was 13 and have always been attracted to the folk-singer tradition,” says Caswell.
“It will be nice to get back to Merritt.”
“I pass by it so often on my way to other shows, so it will be fun to play for a hometown crowd.”
Caswell grew up in Lower Nicola and graduated from Merritt Secondary School and is currently calling Kamloops home.
He has toured throughout Canada and his songs can often be heard on radio stations across the country.
Saturday's show at the Lower Nicola Community Hall, will start at 8:00 p.m.
