With a sound described as magical, Behind Sapphire will make their debut appearance in Merritt's newest live music venue.
Based out of Vancouver, this three-piece band will play at Brambles Bakery next Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
“We will not be charging admission, but asking for a donation for the band if people like the music,” says Dorothy Molnar, part owner of Brambles.
“We had been wanting to open some evenings and offer entertainment and this just came along at the right time.”
The band consists of singer Grant Cassel, guitarist Matthew Mazankowski,
drummer Steven Ward, and occasional violinist Jeremy Ferland.
Cassel and Mazankowski have been writing music together for five years and have just finished their first full-length album.
They will be doing a number of shows throughout the Okanagan region to promote their new album.
Their influences range from old Disney Soundtracks to the Beatles and Ella Fitzgerald.
Behind Sapphire will perform a unique variety of melodic pop, crooning jazz and honest folk.
In December, Cassel and Mazankowski released their first EP entitled “Lest Ye Stay,” featuring four original songs and an a cappella version of the “First Noel.”
