Several of the windows at MSS were completely smashed, others were cracked like this one.

School District 58 is offering a $250 award to anyone with information leading to the arrest of those responsible for up 20 broken windows reported at MSS last Thursday.

Last Thursday morning, Merritt RCMP received a report of mischief at Merritt Secondary School.

Police say a person or group of persons smashed between 15 and 20 windows during the night. Total damage is estimated to be $4,500.

“That's really unusual for us to get those kind of damages,” said School District 58 secretary treasurer Bruce Tisdale.

The matter is still under investigation but the School Board is offering the award to anyone with information.

“It doesn't get used that often,” says Tisdale of the award money that is set aside each year for incidents involving vandalism.

Tisdale says persons can call him anonymously at the School Board office or they can call MSS with information regarding the incident.

The matter is still under investigation by the RCMP

Those with information can also call the RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous.
