A change to Thompson-Nicola Regional District compensation for the time travelling to and from workshops and conventions left one director feeling short changed.
But Ronaye Elliott was alone in trying to return the policy to the old system.
Elliott pointed out to other board members Thursday that the compensation was changed so that directors got 50 cents per kilometre for travelling to and from conventions and workshops.
That's separate from travel expenses or travel to and from regular meetings.
The old form of compensation saw directors get $70 for travel of less than five hours and $140 for more than five hours.
Elliott put forward a motion to go back to the old way.
But Barriere Mayor Mike Fennell noted under the old system, someone travelling half an hour and another person travelling four and a half hours would each get $70.
“She's made a motion to continue to be overpaid,” he said.
His comment seemed to resound among other directors. In the end, Elliott alone voted in favour of her motion and it went down to defeat.
