The Tracker Sportswear Midget Rep’s held their own in their first playoff game of the season on the weekend.
On Sat. night in front of a packed crowd at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena, the Midget boys went toe to toe with the Kelowna Jr. Rockets before losing in double overtime 3-2.
The Cents played well throughout the night, and the score was 2-2 at the end of the third period.
“It was a good team effort - the guys put everything they could into the game,” says head coach Joe Quewezance.
The team was playing with a number of injuries coming out of the regular season but Quewezance says he is expecting a full roster by next weekend’s game.
The team was tied for first with the Kamloops Jr. Blazers during the regular season and came in second based only on their goals against average.
“Our guys definitely worked hard all year,” says Quewezance.
“Their work effort will hopefully pay off during the rest of the playoffs.”
The Tracker Midgets play their next game in Kelowna on Friday night at the Rutland West arena starting at 6:30 p.m., the second of a three-game series.
