Lower Nicola Indian Band Chief Don Moses says he supports a forensic audit of the divided Band and its council.
Forensic investigators from Indian and Northern Affairs Canada met with LNIB members Monday to gather information on Moses' alleged breach of oath of office.
Investigators also met with Moses the following day.
"They're going to recommend a foresnic audit of the Lower Nicola Indian Band," said Moses.
"I support it."
The Chief's support of the audit sits fine with many members of the Band who also want an audit and want Moses impeached over what they call a breach of oath of office.
"They have suspended him," said former LNIB Chief Arthur Dick.
"They have passed a band council resolution and it's effective immediately."
Band members have locked the office doors to Chief Moses' office in protest of his impeachment of councillors Stuart Jackson, Clyde Sam, and Mary June, who were dismissed over the alleged misappropriation of about $1.2 million of the Band's funds.
"It all boils down to the Elders Investigative Committe (EIC) report and the courts have upheld their findings," said Moses.
"These people have been in breach of their fiduciary duties."
Moses says the money has to be paid back, but says the courts will likely have to force payment.
"As a people, we don't charge these people," said Band member Vivian Narcisse to investigators Monday.
"It wasn't me that charged them, it was Don Moses."
During the meeting, several members stated that Moses carried out the impeachment in an undemocratic way and went further saying that Moses is mismanaging the Band's finances.
